New Year Celebration with k2o

Happy New Year everyone :)
I found such a fabulous and stunning jewelry line to share with you all.
k2o by Karen Ko is a hand-made jewelry for all trendy fashionistas.
I thought jewelry seemed to be the best gift to give oneself to shine through the year of 2011 beautifully.

There are three collections
first of them is Avant Rock: truly chic with some bold edges

ARB1NBG-10 Avant Rock Blade Necklace $110
[this kind of feels like a unisex design, can be matched with any outfit to turn into rock & roll chic]

ARB1S-10 Avant Rock Bracelet $50
[the look is FIERCE! i so want to get two pairs for each arm]

The second line is Diag: very modern and trendy to fit with our desires

D2ESB-10 Diag II Earrings $185
[the look is so shiny and breezy just like the goddess]

D4NSB-10 Diag IV Neck $320
[definitely for the party looks]

DA1NGB-10 Diag Armor $800
[this reminds me of puffy edgy shoulder looks seen from Balmain]

DG1ES2-10 Diag Grid I Earrings $110
[just by the first look i can imagine wearing this with my michael kors light yellow dress]

Last but not least, the third collection is Mod Balls:
so elegant but bold enough to make all the eyes turn to you

MB3NBS-10 Mod Ball III Neck $185
[just like an art, i can't take my eyes off from this necklace]

There are more pieces of course, but these are my picks I thought were so breathlessly beautiful.

Here are some questions and answers I received from the press
(Thanks to Jordana Hazan from Untapped PR)
----------------------------------------------------------------
1) What type of materials does she use? Chain metal? What are the stones?, what is the makeup/content of the materials?  Do you have any more details on the pieces?

k2o's current collection is made from a mix of  the following types of materials:
  • Swarovksi Crystallized Elements
  • 14kt Gold Filled
  • Sterling Silver
  • Gold Plate
  • Silver Plate
  • Base Metal
2) Are they produced in NYC?

Every piece is handmade in New York City.

3) When did she start?

Karen Ko started her company, Intersect Designs, in 2007 and launched her first brand, k2o by Karen Ko, in 2010.

4) Finance to fashion? Any special story there?

Karen grew up from a family background in fine jewelry but initially pursued a traditional career path in finance. Feeling unfulfilled in her finance career, Karen decided to take a chance and quit her job to pursue a more creatively fulfilling career.

She chose jewelry because it was something she was passionate about and familiar with, but decided to focus on fashion jewelry because it was what she loved to wear.

After quitting her job, Karen enrolled at FIT's jewelry design program to sharpen her design skills and developed her own personal style, which has led to the creation of k2o.

5) Does she stay in the same color palette or moving forward?

Moving forward, Karen intends to introduce seasonal colors that compliment the core color theme of k2o (Black, Gold & Silver).

Today's Look: RevitaLash

I've received three products from RevitaLash for reviews.
I've heard a lot of compliments about the eyelash conditioner that makes your eyelashes naturally thicker and longer just like or create more beautiful effect than the false eyelashes do.
Many doubt how much the cosmetic can actually affect on us within a few weeks, so this is where I decided to come into see it for myself.
This post is to let you know that I have begun to use these products starting from today.
Within about a week or two, I'll show you my lashes and write how easy it was to apply, how comfortable I felt, any other dramatic or slow effects...etc.

What I loved most about the RevitaLash:
eyelash conditioner's popularity
&
the fact that it's helping out so many great causes such as breast cancer foundation
(the company originally started when Dr. Brinkenhoff created the enhancer/conditioner for his wife whose eyelashes were damaged from treatments for her breast cancer.)

Leave me your questions if you have one and I'll answer as best possible (after 1-2 weeks of experience with these products)
It says to use this once a day, one stroke before bedtime.
I have no doubt actually because I already saw many of my close friends saying great things about this product.
I just can't wait until my eyelashes become that full and lightly long like the bird's feathers.
Mine is 4.10 mL/ 0.139 Fl. Oz. MSRP $150
Other option is 2.40 mL / 0.081 Fl. Oz. MSRP $98
I recommend the 4.10 mL one for long lasting effects.

package came with had all the products info, testimonials, company's philanthropy, mission and values to help me with writing.

I'm satisfied with my brows but I want them to appear a little bit fuller. So I think this is a great find for me and for people who want healthier and more polished look by having a thicker brows.
3.0 mL/ 0.101 Fl. Oz. MSRP $110

I've used this today real quick just about two or three coats in rush.
There are two options in color but I loved my raven. (other is espresso)
Some mascaras (I won't say the name) have strong smells that make you feel sick with strong scent or some  are just like rotten eggs for who knows why.
This one was normal and I didn't feel hardness that some of the mascaras do to make my eyes feel uncomfortable and like getting poked by an edgy object.
The brush feel was very soft and the color was thick and making my eyes look deeper in color.
The products page recommended me to use it along with revitalash and I'll see my eyelashes getting the best result :)
7.39 mL/ 0.25 Fl. Oz. MSRP $24

Sorry if you can't see my lashes very well. I wanted to show you from these pictures that this mascara's color was just about right in between of fullness and in lengthening.
With the use of curler, you'll probably see better lifts too.

Ask lots of questions in my comments if you want to see my results before you get them on your hands by purchasing at revitalash.com

Preview: Hunter S/S 11

I am majorly in love with Hunter Boots.
Like always, Hunter is full of with these amazing shoes and accessories in many possible choices of colors.
They shine so brightly as if they are shouting at us "Please take me I'm yours!"
This is your first peak for the Hunter Spring and Summer 2011 collection of items.
One disappointment is that you won't be able to shop these until the release at March.
So mark it, love it all you want and go rush to get these lovelies at the store nearby when the time comes.
[or check often with www.hunter-boot.com for the shopping online opportunity]
Festival Pocket Poncho Fuchsia

Festival Fluoro 2011 Tall Neon Pink
Limited Edition Festival 2011 Tall Pearlised White

These two I'm going to show you are the new tries Hunter is heading for this season.
For the S/S 11, Hunter is introducing the ballerinas and the hi tops (which are unisex) in various colors of course.

I personally love the flats only if they are really comfy. I hate too-hard-leather-feel that makes your feet get swollen up easily and need few bandages to cover up the mess after wearing it for the first few times.
I'm pretty sure Hunter shoes are the solution to this because the brand is known for the comfort that doesn't get in the way with your everyday life activities.
The colors and the designs are very romantic and feminine.

These hi-tops just added to my obsessions. I didn't wear hi-tops before because they were too giant-looking like as if I'm wearing a size 10 instead of 7.
These are so cute though. I love the paint of these colors. If I could, I would collect them all in all coming colors before they go out of stock.
The length it comes up to when worn is just right,
the colors are very vivid,
the design is sleek and simple in a dedicatedly beautiful way.

I'm sure you liked the never seen Hunter shoes seen here :)
Enjoy them all you like & Merry Christmas

Interview: Kim Mesches (designer of KIMBO)

I've had an awesome opportunity to interview with the hottest designer at the moment: Kim Mesches.
He is a founder and a designer for KIMBO.
He has designing experience his whole life in customizing sneakers (some in the process with the celebrities are with MTV's "Jersey Shore" cast members and for Khloe Kardashian's husband Lamar Odom for Lakers) and working as an associate designer with Anne Bowen from 2008-2010. He began starting his own business from the year 2006.
His works are true arts combined with elegance + edginess in his graphic and textures chosen in his works.
You will be able to see his entire collection within 2 months until the launch!

Michelle: How does your day start and end normally? Are you a morning person?

Kim: Unfortunately I am not a morning person. My day starts with a giant cup of coffee, the stronger the better.  When it comes to ending my day, sometimes I do not end my day until late, if I start a project I get really into it and end up finishing it if I can.  It can be a bad habit actually.  Also if there is an experience or something worth staying up for, I will sacrifice sleep, which probably explains why I am not a morning person.

M: How do you want to portray KIMBO? I loved your collections. It was amazing to see how the drapey and tight looks combined to create such fabulous looks. If you have specific target of ages or the women of image in mind, please tell us.

Kim: I want to portray KIMBO as a new breed of clothing.  My background is from two very different realms.  I started customizing sneakers as a teenager and also have worked in the high end designer market as an Associate Designer.  I am a very graphic person who always favors the bold, yet really appreciates and tries to emulate sleek and sophisticated design.  I want people to see KIMBO and have the reaction of " Woah! That's different."  My target ages of the women are from 19-35, it's for the fashion forward customer who isn't afraid to turn heads, for whatever reason, if it's the interesting drape of the dress or the intense graphic fabric treatment, or both! I want them to think that it's unlike anything they've ever seen.

M: Do you have muses inspiring you at the moment or have people you want to collaborate with?

Kim: I am inspired by most artists of all mediums.  I currently do not have a real live muse, but the idea of who I am designing for is my temporary muse I guess you can say.  I have dreams to collaborate with real innovators, designers who are creating new innovative ways of viewing fashion but still keeping in the world of wearable clothing.  I would love to collaborate with high end designers like Rodarte, because of their innovative fabric treatments, Issey Miyake because of the amazing shapes created with the fabric, Alexander McQueen (top inspirations) just for their engineered prints and amazing silhouettes, the list can go on and on.

M: What is one must item that every men should have and for women should have? Is there a statement piece you believe it works for all seasons long?

Kim: My new T-shirt which is a limited edition T-shirt, I call the KIMBO Cut & Sew Tee.  I love this pieces because it is my take on the skull and cross bones, with scissors and spray paint.  This is unisex and is available through my online store.  There is a White V-neck version and also a black and red version, you can pick one up for both Winter and Spring! They are going fast and there are only a limited amount left so pick one up before they're all gone!
[check them out for yourself at: http://kimbo.bigcartel.com/product/kimbo-the-cut-sew-tee ]

M: I saw the customized products and they are very eye catchy and one-of-a-kind pieces. How does the process work? Do you get orders from the collaborating brands only or are you going to get personalized orders from the wanted customers too?

Kim: Well, sneaker customization is how I started, and I kind of got into it by accident but it has expanded more than I could have ever imagined.  I painted a pair of old shoes in high school and got attention from my peers, it kind of just took off from there.  The way the process works is people send me their shoes along with a list of theme that they want.  They should not be worn often, they are pieces of art that are very intricate and usually take almost 3 days, on average.  So for example one girl sent me a pair of Vans slip-ons, she was from Miami and said she wanted "Trippy, Urban, Turquoise, Orange and Purple" So I just went to town and she loved them.  It's also a matter of trust, they need to trust that I've  been doing it for a long time and I know how to work on sneakers.  As for me hustling my wanted customers, I try and network with them through whatever connections I can find, sometimes it works sometimes it doesn't, life's full of hurdles and I jump rope daily to jump over them more easily.

M: I see people in two categories. People who wear clothes and contrastingly where clothes wear people. What do you suggest or advise people to avoid this kind of tragedy but to gain self confidence?
Kim: Well I feel you should always wear something because it makes you feel good.  There is nothing better than walking out of the house having that confidence that you know you look good and most like yourself and feel good about it, that's the ultimate confidence boost.  I find that "clothes wearing the people" does the person a disservice.  If you don't feel good about the clothes and are wearing them because you were told you should or that's the trend, then you won't feel confident in them, you can't fake that, and it will reflect past the clothes.  Nobody can pull off being uncomfortable with what they're wearing, it shows right past your designer threads.   Buy what you feel best in, because otherwise that true self confidence will not be gained, but lost.

M: I wish you all the best of luck and success for you and KIMBO. Please tell us your goal you would like to achieve in this upcoming year of 2011.

Kim: Goal for the new year: Kick KIMBO into High Gear, and really take this business to the next level of design, self expression and creativity. Oh, and exercise more, like everybody's every year.
